Barelang Bridge

Barelang bridge is a name that certainly is not foreign to the ear. Especially for local residents and tourists Tempatan or foreign tourists. There could have been tens or hundreds of information about the Bridge Barelangnya Batam. Even Batam City Government made ​​Barelang Bridge as a symbol of the city and also an icon for the Visit Batam 2010. Location Barelang Bridge is located about 20 kilometers from the center of Batam, Riau Islands province, Indonesia.



 

The bridge was built in 1992 and completed in 1998, its initiator BJ Habibie, who was then serving as Minister of State for Research and Technology. Construction of this bridge cost more than Rp 400 billion. The truth is that Barelang Bridge is six bridges connecting the three large islands and several small islands belonging to the province of Riau Islands. Barelang own name is an acronym of the names of the three major islands linked by bridges, namely the island of Batam, Rempang Island, and Galang Island.
